The King’s War

Community Links created a communication and promotion platform for the documentary The King's War among the students in history and political sciences from the University of Bucharest and The National School of Political Studies and Public Administration.

The film, based on exclusive images and interviews with King Michael of Romania, the last head of state remained alive since the Second World War, presents the life of King Michael from childhood to the central point of the documentary, the arms return by Romania against the Axis powers, a historical moment whose central figure was King Michael.

The documentary, produced and directed by Trevor Poots and John Florescu, brings to light unpublished documents from Romanian and foreign archives and benefits of the historical consultation of Matei Cazacu, one of the most important Romanian historians, and of other Romanian and foreign experts in recent history.

With the help of Community Links, the documentary was presented to the students in history and political sciences from both universities who had the opportunity to debate over the topic with the production team, professors and eye witnesses in order to learn more about the making of the documentary and about the political context of that time.

Training during college

The project "Write your career in the history field by training during college” followed the core idea to connect young people skills studying history with the requirements of the employers. The focus was to create a meeting point between school and work environment. The project partnered with the Faculty of History from the University of Bucharest targeting over 450 students. More than 150 students benefited from career counselling and internships in institutions related to their academic background. Besides the training program, the Association facilitated a series of conferences during the academic year that brought in front of students cultural people, researchers, historians, social entrepreneurs, civil society representatives, politicians.

The project was co-financed from the Human Resources Development Operational Program 2007-2013.

“Lider Ovidiu“

Lider Ovidiu Mentorship Program was the first project launched by Community Links, in partnership with the Academy of Economic Studies and the Business Students Association in Romania. The project targeted students specializing in business and economy and it was conceived as a communication platform that binds business leaders and companies with young professionals.

The project mission was to train young professionals and facilitate a direct relationship between employers ‘needs and the abilities of the young students. The program succeeded to create a selection system for students ‘recruitment in private companies offering them the possibility to increase their professional level. The program addressed to more than 400 students who graduated the internship and mentoring stages facilitated by the Association. Around 25% of them received job offers from companies where they had internships. In the same time, around 20 private companies, active in sectors like finance, transport, banking, retail, FMCG, energy, heavy industry or Pharmacy, joined the project and offered internship stages for students.

Lider Ovidiu is a unique educational concept in Romania, which gave the students from the Faculty of International Relations not only the opportunity to test their chosen profession by participating in internships in the largest companies in Romania, but also to engage in inspirational debates with some of the most powerful Romanian business leaders. In this respect, the Association organized more than 10 inspirational conferences with prominent keynote speakers from the business community.

Thales participated at InnoTrans 2018 exhibition in Berlin with a revolutionary booth allowing visitors to imagine what the future looks like and to actually be part of it.

Pepper, the robot, was awarded the most popular host, charismatically introducing Lite4ce, the new fibre optical technology which enables sensors on the rail to safely detect a variety of parameters, such as quality of the wheels, the speed and weight of vehicles as well as the number of passengers in each wagon.
Thales Group, No. 1 worldwide in driverless metro signalling and No. 1 worldwide in communication systems for rail networks, has embarked on digitalizing railway transportation, paving the way for autonomous railway operations. With the autonomous trains, Thales gives eyes to trains – advanced sensors that give the train a full perception of its environment. And then, Thales combines it with artificial intelligence – the train’s brain – to allow them to run on the network in full autonomy.
